Xbox Live Marketplace isn’t playing fair
As I told you yesterday the Xbox Live was down for 24 hours to do some routine maintenance. And in textbook Microsoft fashion the service is back up, but not without it’s problems.
Those of you who have been trying to download certain games or redeem codes for games like Ghostbusters have already noticed that the service is running into some problems. In fact, some games have disappeared from the Marketplace altogether.
“We know there are a few issues and top agents have been deployed to resolve them. Thanks for understanding!” was posted on the official Xbox XNA Community Twitter earlier today.
And the following message can be found on Xbox Live’s support page:
“Users may experience difficulties when attempting to use Marketplace and/or making purchases. We are aware of the problem and working to resolve the technical issues. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.”
I’m sure everyone was trying to get their DLC fix today because of the service being down so long. Every time the service is down for maintenance a big influx of people sign on and thumb through to see if they can find any changes.
Have any of you been experiencing problems?

yeah I am trying to download the 1 vs. 100 beta but it won’t let me. and yes i am an xbox live gold member so there shouldn’t be any problems, but every time i try to download it it gives a simple message saying “can’t download beta 1 vs 100″
No known probs, other than when MS takes it down for maint. – That’s annoying being they do it for so long! If it’s a Live issue, I would tend to think everyone would have a prob.
The only prob I tend to have is in multiplayer games, such as COD4 or COD:WAW when games drop in mid battle. But that always follows w/ evidence of a player w/ crappy, (or as I call it “cheap ass shouldn’t be allowed on XboxLive”) internet connections. Not sure if MS will ever be able to fix that being that those games run on p2p network setups, which rely on all players having a reliable connection.
I’m curious to see what improvements they plan to make on Live to support the Halo:Reach online MP. Bungee & MS are redesigning the online game type, using a completely new platform.
Yeah they really need to shy away from the p2p setup and start having dedicated servers. I want to throw my controller out the window every time I’m in a good match and the host quits or their connection craps out. Fail.
