Bungie will push the Xbox 360 “as far as we can go” with Halo: Reach

Halo 3: ODST was a great game. Critics liked it and gamers flocked to it to get their latest Halo fix. But one of the big complaints about the game was that it was built with old technology.  The 2009 release was built on Halo 3’s 2007 technology, and it showed. But worry not Halo fans, Bungie has no plans to make the same mistake twice.

In an interview with Edge Marcus Lehto, the game’s creative director elaborated on their ambitious undertaking.

We are… taking every advantage of everything on the CPU and GPU, and every bit of memory in order to produce the look of Reach beyond anything of Halo 3. We’re pushing it as far as we can go. With every iteration we understand what more we can exploit with the hardware.

Bungie also went on to explain improvements to their AI system and the overall singleplayer experience. Halo’s multiplayer has always been credited with aiding in each title’s longevity. Let’s hope all the extra effort pays off and they’ll finally have a single player experience to brag about.
