Criterion Games is finally done with pumping out new content for Burnout Paradise. Since the game hit store shelves several years ago they have released almost ten different DLC’s for the over-the-top racing game, making it one of the most supported games post release. Golf clap!

Criterion isn’t stopping there though. From now until March 31st you can get Burnout Paradise and all of the accompanying DLC for just $29.99. That’s over $100 worth of game and content for around thirty bucks…not bad. But if $29.99 is too rich for your blood they are also offering the game with some of the content for $19.99. Just fork over the extra ten bucks and get the whole shebang you cheap bastard.

It’s official, EA has released a multiplayer demo for their upcoming release Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on the Xbox Live Marketplace. From today until February 25th (almost a full month!) you’ll be able to enjoy playing “Rush Mode” on the Port Valdez map. The download will hog about 1.4 GB of your memory but I’m sure every kilobyte will be worth it.

Playstation owners will have to wait it out until the demo is released on the Playstation Network on February 11th in North America and February 4th for our European counterparts.

How will Battlefield: Bad Company 2’s multiplayer stack up against Modern Warfare 2? Looks like we’ll get a glimpse today.

The first of two announced DLCs for Assassin’s Creed II will be hitting Xbox Live Marketplace and the Playstation Network tomorrow.  The Battle of Forli will unlock memory sequence 12 which will contain six new memories. Unfortunately for you Gamersocre whores the new content will not come with any new Achievements or Trophies so you’ll just have to suffer, but it does come chalk full of new content.

You’ll cross paths with Ezio, Machievelli, Caterina Sforza and the Orsi brothers, and it looks like you’ll be taking Leonardo’s flying thingamajiggy for another annoyingly difficult flight.

The DLC will cost 320 Microsoft Points or $4.00 for you Playstation users.

Fans of Team Fortress 2 know how fun the game can be. And they also know how great Valve has been at supporting their favorite game post launch. Like way post launch, it’s been over two years since it hit Steam. Almost every class in the game from the Spy all the way to the Sniper has been updated. I say almost because we are still patiently waiting for the Engineer class update. But if you think Valve will wash their hands of the game after the last character update you are sorely mistaken.

In an interview on the Team Fortress 2 community site Community Fortress, Valve’s Robin Walker was asked how much support they had left in them:

We’ve got multiple updates in the works still, at least one of which will land before the Engineer pack. As always, we haven’t planned too much out beyond that point, because we want to see what feedback we get from the community.

Epic Games dropped the mother load of Gears donwloadable content today, releasing both the Dark Corners Multiplayer Map Pack and the Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection.

Those of you who haven’t downloaded any of the previous Gears of War 2 DLC because of an anemic money supply will make out great with the All Fronts Collection. With it you’ll get ALL of the previous donwloadable multiplayer map packs AND the new Dark corners DLC. All for the bargain price of just 1600 Microsoft points. Here’s the official Xbox description:

“This content pack features all 19 downloadable Gears 2 multiplayer maps and a bonus deleted single-player chapter, “Road to Ruin,” from the Gears of War 2 campaign. The second GTA IV episode developed exclusively for the Xbox 360 titled The Ballad of Gay Tony will be released on October 29.

Rockstar Games wants you to take to the streets as part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to nightclub impresario Tony Prince (he’s gay). The usual ho slapping and random pedestrian beat downs are sure to ensue.

There are two different ways to get your hands on the latest content. You can download it as DLC from Xbox Live, which will cost 1,600 Microsoft Points ($19.99). Or you can also purchase Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City in retail stores which bundles The Lost and Damned along with The Ballad of Gay Tony. The retail disc will set you back $39.99.

Play with caution. If you spend too much time playing The Ballad of Gay Tony you may feel the need to take up interior decorating. You can’t say I didn’t warn you…

The Treyarch map pack factory is preparing to pump out more fine additions to your Call of Duty: World at War map pack collection. And just so you don’t fall behind the 8-ball I’ll fill you in on the details.

Screens of the upcoming Map Pack 3 are making the rounds. Due out next month they’ll include three more multiplayer maps as well as another zombie co-op map (yessssss!!!). As with the previous map packs they are releasing screen shots of the multiplayer maps but being a little more hush hush with zombie map details. If the pricing pattern from previous map packs holds true Map Pack 3 will probably set you back 800 Microsoft Points.

Here’s the breakdown of the new maps as explained by Treyarch:

“Fight for ocean territory in “Battery,” an armored island surrounded by anti-ship mines and shore to ship cannons. Watch out for sniper fire as you defend Russia’s most coveted resource in “Revolution,” and keep a sharp eye out through the dense, overcast city streets in “Breach,” set at Berlin’s historic Brandenburg Gate. Zombies return in all their undead glory with “Der Riese” (Zombie Factory), a Nazi research facility featuring the weapon upgrading Pack A Punch Machine. Use the teleporters to escape in an instant and fight to the death in pursuit of the map’s 10 new Achievements/Trophies.”

Teleporters in the new zombie map = awesome.

40 Knives!:
Kill 40 zombies with the bowie knife.

Acquire Waffle Weapons!:
Obtain the Ray Gun, DG-2, and the Monkey Bomb at the same time in a game.

Der electrican!:
Link all teleport pads before round 7.

Frequent Flyer!:
Use the teleporter 8 times.

Locksmith!:
Open all doors in the map.

The Might of the monkey!:
Use the Monkey Bomb.

Perkaholics Anonymous!:
Survive untill round 20 without buying a single perk.

Pack Addict!:
Upgrade 5 weapons at the Pack A Punch Machine.

In a recent interview with MTV Multipayer Bethesda’s Jeff Gardiner squashed any possibilities of a level cap increase with the next DLC Fallout: New Vegas.

But there’s good reason for holding back on future increases he explains “I know from the outside this seems like a fairly simple proposition, but doing this could unbalance the game in a variety of ways.” A pretty valid point. Although it would be nice to have something more levels to work towards, why force the issue if there is a chance that it may inhibit your gameplay experience?

For those of you looking for new challenges or want to further play time he recommends starting over with a new character type. After all that is one of Fallout 3’s biggest advantages. There are so many paths a player can take and different options at your disposal that starting over doesn’t necessarily mean you would just be rehashing the same experience twice. Explore!

Jeff did acknowledge however that Bethesda is pleased that people want to keep playing and that things may be different down the road saying “we’ll look into addressing these concerns in future games.”

Killzone 2 fans mark July 23 on your calendar. That’s the day the latest downloadable content for the Playstation 3 exclusive will be making it’s debut.

Titled Napalm & Cordite, it contains two new multiplayer maps. Each of which will also feature weapons you could previously only use during the single player campaign.

Here’s the Playstation blog’s break down:

Napalm: The VC1 Flamethrower
Found in the Suljeva Cliffside map, the VC1 Flamethrower projects an ignited stream of flammable liquid at high pressure. Consisting of low-octane gasoline and an unidentified component indigenous to Helghan, this form of Napalm is extremely effective for clearing out enemy trenches and bunkers.

Cordite: The Boltgun 4400
Also known as “The Handyman”, the semi-automatic Boltgun 4400 can be picked up in the Arctower Landing map. It uses Cordite to propel metal bolts at an extremely high velocity, often pinning its targets to walls and other objects. In addition, each round contains a time-delayed explosive charge – so if impalement doesn’t finish the target off, the ensuing explosion will.

The latest in a great string of DLC’s will be available August 3. The aptly named “Mothership Zeta” takes place miles above Capital Wasteland in well…an alien ship. After being plucked from Earth you must fight your way to freedom and help save Earth at the same time. No pressure!

“Mothership Zeta” will also up some new weapons and armor as well.  Two in particular sound perfect for wreaking havoc on your green blooded foes, the Alien Atomizer and the Alien Disintegrator.

Here are the key features Bethesda outlined for the latest expansion:

• Find and exploit new and destructive alien technology, like the Alien Atomizer and Drone Cannon.
• Explore the vast Mothership and learn the secrets of the Aliens’ master plan.
• Thwart the Aliens’ attempt to stop your escape, and take over the Alien ship before it wreaks havoc on the unsuspecting Earth below.
• Fight against the Alien Invaders, their robot drones, and turn their own horrible experiments against them.
• Ally yourself with an unexpected array of characters, both from the Capital Wasteland and from Earth ’s past.

This will definitely be a change in tempo after wasting inbreds for the past few weeks in Point Lookout. And let’s give Bethesda a golf clap for continuing to support Fallout 3 long after it’s release. It seems like every time I think I’m done with Fallout another great DLC pack gets released. You just can’t get over this game. It’s like electronic herpes, but in a good way.

Not that I know what it’s like to have herpes…because I don’t so stop looking at me like that…

The last time GameStop chimed in about digital distribution they told us that they didn’t think digital distribution would be a major factor in the gaming market until 2020. Now that’s changed with GameStop saying they have “conducted the most thorough study to date” on the matter.

According to their new findings only 25% of consumers will “have access to the technology required to download full games.” in 2014. Five years from now.

These findings were reported by analyst Arvind Bhatia of Sterne Agee during a meeting with GameStop executives.

According to GameStop executives such digital distribution could cost users $100 per month, not to mention the cost of storage devices.

They do make a good point about the cost of storage. Downloading full games takes up precious drive space quickly. And I’m guessing the $100 monthly fee they are figuring includes the cost of broadband service and possible penalties from providers for increased data transmission. Fail.

The study also claimed that “customers are willing to pay only $39 for downloadable games,so publishers will be less incentivize than some in the industry think.”

I’m no math genius, but if publishers are reducing costs by not having to package games, shouldn’t the cost of distribution be reduced as well? And gamers pay full price for most digitally distributed games already, so where are they getting the reduced figure from?

Of course we have to take this whole report from GameStop with a grain of salt. Their business model is built around putting people in their stores and finding ways for consumers to buy more then they intended too. The upsell.

You get the idea. Off course GameStop is trying to drag their feet when it comes to digital distribution. They know what it might do to their bottom dollar. But with the growing number of Steam accounts, the future launch of Xbox’s Games On Demand service, the OnLive console, and the PSP Go moving away from UMD it’s clear that the industry as a whole is quickly moving in a new direction. Why spend time and money guessing when it will happen when you know it’s inevitable?

Call of Duty: World at War

Here’s an update to the Call of Duty:World at War story I brought to you a couple of weeks ago.

The new Map Pack 2 will be releasing tomorrow June 11th. Setting you back 800 Microsoft Points (around $10.00) or $9.99 on the Playstation Network. With the map pack you’ll get three new multiplayer maps including Banzai, Sub Pens and Corrosion. For more details on the maps you can check out this posting from a couple of weeks ago. If you think you are feeling lucky you can skip paying cash for the maps  and take a stab at snagging some codes from community manager Josh Olin. He will be giving away redeemable codes on his Twitter.

Along with the three new multiplayer maps you’ll also get the highly anticipated Shi No Numa co-op Zombie map. Up until a couple of days ago not a whole lot of info was released about the new map, which will give you a break from the usual Nazi Zombie slaughtering and finally let you take a crack at some Japanese undead instead.

New details are spilling onto the web about the upcoming release of the new Map Pack 2 DLC coming out next month (still no official release date from Treyarch) for Call of Duty: World at War. Callofduty.com posted new gameplay videos and overhead map layouts for you strategy hounds to break down.

Along with the new multiplayer maps we will also be getting the new zombie co-op map “Shi No Numa”. Where you will get the chance to shoot an annoying fat kid sitting at his computer lip syncing to a catchy foreign tune. (Editor’s Note: That was a sad attempt at a cheesy joke, I apologize) Alright enough with the silliness. The new co-op map will actually be the first time we will be able to hunt down unlimited waves of Japanese undead. Looks like Treyarch is giving the Germans a break.

Halo Wars is sinking their teeth into the DLC craze. Today they released the Halo Wars: Strategic Options add-on pack for download on XBLM. The add-on will feature three new game modes for you strategizing pleasure. Keepaway Mode, Tug of War Mode and Reinforcement Mode. Here are descriptions for all three:

• Keepaway Mode: In this “Halo Wars” adaptation of Capture the Flag, teams will battle it out to capture a free-roaming Forerunner Sentinel to score points before the other team. The number of Sentinels needed to win scales with the number of combatants.
• Tug of War Mode: Players must build a stronger army than their opponents to succeed. Defeating enemies is essential, but success is determined by a combination of the army, buildings and resources left standing in the end.
• Reinforcement Mode: Players must adapt their tactics and use the ever-changing set of units to outwit and outlast the enemy, all the while facing successive waves of incoming units.

Sound tasty enough? Capture the Flag in a RTS game sounds like a win to me. But all of these look like they could involve some epic battles.

The DLC will set you back 800 Microsoft Points.
