Mass Effect coming to iPhone

A recent survey has revealed that the Mass Effect franchise will be coming to your iPhone.

Mass Effect: Jacob’s Story will be a prequel to the console bound Mass Effect 2 and will revolve around ”a biotic-powered super-soldier who stumbles across a plot to terrorize civilization’s greatest beacon of hope” named Jacob Taylor.

The game will not be an RPG, but instead be a top-down shooter with cartoonish styling. The app will set you back $2.99 and the game should last you for a little of two hours.

Depending on the success of this game it looks like we may see the Mass Effect franchise make an expansion to include more iPhone titles. And maybe even other portable devices as well.

WoW on your iPhone!?

Well it seems like someone has figured out a way to play World of Warcraft on their iPhone.  This is what looks to be authentic in-game video footage of someone actually playing the MMORPG on their iPhone. It’s embedded below for your viewing pleasure. Take a look:

As you can tell from the video the phone is running the Vollee client, which was confirmed last year as a mobile application capable of running Second Life. So it isn’t unreasonable to think that the Vollee client could also run WoW without too many issues.

But would playing WoW on your iPhone actually be any fun? You can see in the video that there are a lot of objects cramped onto that small screen. And using the touch controls looks a little clumsy. The game would be a hit of course because of it’s huge popularity, but I don’t think gamers should set their expectations too high. WoW is also a very social game, one of the reasons it is so popular. And from the video we can’t tell if voice chat is supported. If it isn’t, that too would be a drawback. This video seems to create more questions than it does answers.

If you want to read more about this head over to Kotaku. They have a pretty interesting artice on the subject and it’s worth a look.

Metal Gear Solid Touch = done

The “Complete Version” of Metal Gear Solid Touch is getting it’s finishing touches according to Kotaku.

Those of you who bought the original version already know that the game was a little on the short side. Worry not boys and girls help is on the way. Metal Gear Solid Touch ver 2.0.0 will have a bevy of new goodies for you to enjoy like: eight new mission stages, 20 new fancy wallpapers, and language support for French, German, Italian and Spanish. What no Swahili Konami? You are so racist.

The update will set you back about 10mb of phone memory bringing the total for both versions to 137mb.
