UPDATE: Sony has resolved the issue as of late last night. Those of you who are still having clock problems should reset the times manually. On a side now, I played on my 360 all night last night bwahahaha!!!

Owners of older PlayStation 3 consoles should not connect their unit the the PlayStation Network. As of right now, those that do will fall prey to a network error that will keep your console from being able to connect for online play. The issue seems to only effect owners of non-Slim PlayStations.

Sony is aware of the issue and wrote an update on their blog regarding the issue:

We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

Errors include:

• The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
• When the user tries to sign in to the PlayStation Network, the following
  message appears on the screen; “An error has occurred. You have been
  signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)”.
• When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears
  on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; “Failed to install
  trophies. Please exit your game.”
• When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the
  Internet, the following message appears on the screen; “The current date
  and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)”
• Users are not able to play back certain rental video downloaded from the
  PlayStation Store before the expiration date.

We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

PlayStation.Blog just dropped the news that Sony’s upcoming bloody epic God of War III will be attacking store shelves on March 16. That’s less than two months away!

Along with the release date Sony also revealed  the box art (shown above) and also announced a God of War III Ultimate Edition (shown below). Items featured in the box set will include a sculpted replica of Pandora’s Box, a collectible art book, and various DLC’s. No price was announced for the Ultimate Edition.

Kratos fans who need their fix before March 16 will be able to get their hands on a playable demo February 11 on the PlayStation Network.

The first of two announced DLCs for Assassin’s Creed II will be hitting Xbox Live Marketplace and the Playstation Network tomorrow.  The Battle of Forli will unlock memory sequence 12 which will contain six new memories. Unfortunately for you Gamersocre whores the new content will not come with any new Achievements or Trophies so you’ll just have to suffer, but it does come chalk full of new content.

You’ll cross paths with Ezio, Machievelli, Caterina Sforza and the Orsi brothers, and it looks like you’ll be taking Leonardo’s flying thingamajiggy for another annoyingly difficult flight.

The DLC will cost 320 Microsoft Points or $4.00 for you Playstation users.

UPDATE: Today at Microsoft’s E3 keynote speech Hideo Kojima revealed some big news about the teaser site, and the next installment of Metal Gear solid. Check out the latest news here.

The teaser site for Kojima’s next project has gone live and has a little over three days left on the mysterious countdown clock. The site is just a flash animation of a field on a cloudy day with thunder and lightning. If you stick around long enough you hear thunder and a large 5 flashes on the screen for a few seconds.

Now the obvious assumption is that the new project will be the next installment of the Metal Gear series. But Kojima has been pretty vocal in letting everyone know that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots would be the last installment in the franchise. But with the lightening and thunder it’s hard not to jump to conclusions and think that the next MG game may be based on Raiden and maybe be a prequel.

Kojima’s teaser sites never seem to disappoint in the head scratching department. We all remember the MG:Touch site that had everyone thinking the next MG game would be releasing for the Xbox 360. So thinking the obvious when looking at his teaser sites are usually a big mistake. I can’t wait to find out what the secret is.
