Batman: Arkham Asylum gets a Game of the Year Edition

Although not formally announced by Eidos or Rocksteady, it seems as though a listing on the  British Board of Film Classification’s website has made it clear that Batman: Arkham Asylum will be re-releasing as a Game of the Year Edition.

According to the BBFC’s website the game passed with “not cuts made” and will be receiving a 15 rating, the same rating given to the original. No other details are revealed by the BBFC’s website as far as content goes. However it is safe to assume that the game will be packaged with previously released DLC and at a discounted price to entice gamers to fork over the cash.

Arkham Asylum 2 was announced in December. No release date was set, but it’s rumored that it will be available by the end of this year. Releasing a GOTY Edition of the first Arkham Asylum might be just enough to hold you over until the next chapter in Batman’s saga hits store shelves.

Activision finally released the full Guitar Hero:Smash Hits track list to the folks over at IGN. It’s mostly just a “Best Of” track list from the previous Guitar Hero titles like you’d expect. Surprisingly enough there is only one Aerosmith song on the whole list. Just one. But on the other hand they were the only band to have an exclusive GH title to make the list. Are there any tracks on here you guys think should not have made the cut? Any songs you think the game is missing?

GameStop’s Brutal Legend pre-order perks

Can’t get enough Jack Black with your Brütal Legend? Want more overweight silliness with your gaming experience? GameStop will make it all better.

They are sweetening the deal for those of you who are thinking about pre-ordering the game. With the pre-order you’ll get a Tenacious D guitar (for the game, not for real strumming enjoyment). With the guitar you get the custom Tenacious D image on the axe, new sound effects, new voice over work from the D’s themselves, new visual effects and a plethora of other gaming nirvana.

People who were waiting for this game’s release were probably going to pre-order anyways. Do you guys think this sweetens the deal enough to sway someone into pre-ordering if they haven’t already? Could they find a way to cram even MORE Jack Black into this game?

The game will ship out October 13th for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Head over to GameStop and take a look.

The Beatles: Rock Band have got some sweet guitars

Harmonix and MTV games have announced that they will be releasing two standalone guitars for The Beatles: Rock Band game. Each will be priced at $100 making them a little on the expensive side. They are modeled after the Rickenbacker 325 and Gretsch Duo Jet, the guitars that John Lennon and George Harrison favored.

These two “premium” guitar peripherals are targeted for the hardcore fan and will also be compatible with previous Rock Band and Guitar Hero instruments. So if you want to have a fancy guitar to play fake music with, this is for you!

Is there anyone else out there that thinks this is all a little on the expensive side?

The Beatles: Rock Band will be releasing on September 9th for the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3.

Deadpool joining Marvel Ultimate Alliance ranks

That’s right. Deadpool will be appearing in Activision’s follow up to 2006’s Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 puts you knee deep in a super-hero civil war. Because of public outcry after a battle between super heroes and super villains causes the deaths of 600 people,  the government passes the Super Hero Registration Act. Now those with super powers are split into two factions, those for the Registration Act and those against.

Which side will you chose?

The game will be out sometime during the fall of 2009 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Playstation 2, PSP, Wii and DS.

Batman: Arkham Asylum gets pushed back

According to Game Informer, sources close to the game are saying that Batman: Arkham Asylum will not be meeting it’s original June release date. Instead the game will now probably be out sometime in the fourth quarter of 2009. Eidos and Warner Bros. have yet to comment.

Any theories as to why the game would be pushed back just weeks before it was supposed to be released? Could this be a result of Square Enix’s takeover of Eidos? Was there some sort of breakdown in the final weeks of development.

Nobody knows. Yet.

Check back for updates.
