New Metal Gear:Online shenanigans

If you are having fun enjoying the recently released SCENE expansion pack than you’ll love this. Konami has a new game mode and feature on the way that should make your groin tickle. And the good news? Even if you haven’t bothered to fork over the cash for the previous three expansion packs for MGO (cheap bastard), the new features and modes will still be available to you.

The new game mode is called “Race Mission” and will be available May 12th. Here’s Playstaion’s explanation of it:

“This mode pits two teams against each other, with the Blue Team searching for and protecting the KEROTAN target, and the Red Team searching for and protecting the GA-KO target. Each time a team passes a check point with its target in hand, a new checkpoint will be generated. If a team drops its target and the target is not retrieved within a set period of time, the target’s position will be reset and the checkpoint will change.”

This sounds like a blast. A new spin on the “capture the flag” mode. This could make out for some fun drawn out battles!

The new feature headed your way May 26th could tip matches into your favor, or make you want to throw your controller out the window. Here’s what PlayStation has to say on the new “Patriot” feature:

“This feature will select a few lucky players every week starting from the 26th, and give them exclusive access to a 5.56mm Hand Rifle with infinite ammunition and no reload. Players will have access to these unique “Patriot” features until the next ranking update.”

The people who are awarded this feature every week will be picked at random. And unless I’m picked I’ll hate it. There is no word yet if there will be a way to tell who has the “Patriot” feature yet. So there may be no way to who everyone should gang up on at first. But you know if you have this unlocked you’ll be laughing the entire match. No reloads FTW!

What do you guys think of the new mode and feature? Any thoughts?

Marvel vs Capcom demo hits PSN this week

reported to you last week that the rumored Marvel vs Capcom game was all but confirmed. And well, now it is confirmed by Campcom that it will be available on Xbox Live Arcarde and the Playstation Network.

The game will be out sometime this summer and will have HD as well as widescreen options. Yummy.

But if you don’t want to wait for the summer to give the game a try and you own a PS3, you are in luck. The demo should be out later this week (I’m guessing Thursday during PSN’s update). If you own a 360, suck it. The demo is a PSN exclusive. Wah-wah.

PS: I am just now realizing that this is the third Capcom related story I have posted in a row. Are they gearing up for world domination?

UPDATE: Take a look at the trailer embedded below via Kotaku:

Street Fighter IV DLC out now

The Street Fighter IV “Power Up Pack” is now available on Xbox LIve Marketplace. The DLC is free and adds a couple of cool new features to the game.

With the pack comes the new Championship Mode, which will add tournament play and features a double blind character selection. For a more detailed breakdown of the “Championship Mode” check out Unscripted 360.

The DLC also adds a great new Replay Mode which allows players to upload and download replays of tournament matches. Replay Mode also has an option to let you watch the controller input. Letting you see what buttons or stick movements both players are doing during the match. A great way to study good techniques!

I checked Playstation Network to see if they had it available yet and they still don’t. I’ll let you know when it becomes available.

Rock Band Styx and REO Speedwagon Track Pack

Get ready for another dose of 80’s rock supremacy. Next week’s Rock Band DLC is chalk full of Styx and REO Speedwagon. In addition they also threw in some songs from their collaboration as Hautewerk. You can buy all the tracks individually for the usual 160 Microsoft Points. The Styx and REO Speedwagon can also be bought in a seven track bundle for 880 Microsoft Points.

The tracks will be released on April 21 on Xbox Live and April 23 on the Playstation Store. Here’s a list of the tracks…sorry there’s no Mr. Roboto to speak of. Ridiculous!

  • “Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)” by Styx
  • “Renegade” by Styx
  • “Too Much Time on My Hands” by Styx
  • “Ridin? the Storm Out” by REO Speedwagon
  • “Roll With the Changes” by REO Speedwagon
  • “Take It on the Run” by REO Speedwagon
  • “Can?t Stop Rockin’” by Styx and REO Speedwagon
  • “Stop Start Again” by Hautewerk
  • “Alone in My Head” by Hautewerk
  • “I Know Where You Came From” by Hautewerk

Feel free to ruin every one of these songs with your horrible, horrible singing.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 coming to XBLA/PSN?

According to 1up.com it looks like the release of Marvel vs. Capcom on the Xbox 360 and Playstaion 3 ports is almost a reality. There were hints back in October when the ESRB for the two platforms was first revealed but the story was dead in the water soon after. Now however Xbox360Achievements.org has posted a list of supposed achievements for the 360 version, and Mad Catz is rumored to have a new fight stick in the works for the game due out sometime in July.

Thanks Mr. Internet for making sure we never have any surprises ever again! Bastard. Looks like this thing is a done deal. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for confirmation from Microsoft and Sony but at this point it’s pretty much a given.

If the Mad Catz project is any indicator you can probably bet that this will be a summer release. Let the button smashing commence!
